Ormond Beach Photographer Earns Craftsman Degree

Meggan Harper of Meggan Harper Photography recognized for helping to advance the photography industry.

Ormond Beach-January 12, 2016— Meggan Harper of Meggan Harper Photography in Ormond Beach has earned the photographic craftsman degree from Professional Photographers of America (PPA). The degree was presented to Harper by PPA president Michael Timmons, M.Photog.M.Artist.Cr., CPP, F-ASP, at the association’s annual convention, Imaging USA, held January 10-12, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia.

This degree is not merely a piece of paper. It means that Harper has met the standards of excellence set by PPA. She has been awarded the photographic craftsman degree in recognition of her service to the photographic profession as an orator, author and mentor. Harper’s degree—and all the expertise it requires—illustrates her accomplishments and talent as one of a select few. Meggan has also recently earned the title of Certified Professional Photographer (CPP). She currently serves on the Board of Directors for both Florida Professional Photographers (FPP) and Professional Photographers Society of Central Florida (PPSCF).

A Blue Ribbon for me…do you believe it?! | Central Florida Award Winning Photographer

So, we had our monthly meeting at PPSCF last night, and I entered the print competition. I LOVE LOVE LOVE competitions because I always learn a ton about what I can do better next time. I am so ecstatic to announce that I merited 3 images, and one of them won FIRST PLACE! I am honored {and a little shocked!} to receive this award and I couldn’t be more grateful!

Here I am with my ribbon–so super excited!! {and a tad dorky, I know}

Meet Kinsley. She merited with an 81 or 82 (can’t remember in all of the excitement!). I appropriately titled this image “Angel Face”:

The next image was a class portrait for St. James Episcopal School’s 1st Grade Silent Auction. I titled it “A New Day Dawns”. It scored an 84, which is a personal best for me. Some of the judges wanted it higher–one of them mentioning 86-87 (Wow!)

And finally, meet Baby Ella. This image scored an 84 and won First Place in the Fine Art Category. This one was debated to be higher too. I am so thrilled! I titled it “This is Love”, but I think for the next competition, I will change the name. Any suggestions?

All in all, what a great day it was! I learned lots of tips for what I can improve on, and I am always open to advice from the experts! 🙂
